Dynamic QoS Renegotiation in the PNSVS Videoconferencing Application

چکیده
This paper aims to study the dynamic QoS renegotiation in a particular case, a videoconferencing application: PNSVS (Petri Net Synchronized Videoconferencing System). In the paper, we present rst the QoS model (TSPN), the architecture and mechanisms used to achieve this QoS. Then we study how to handle with a synchronized switching of QoS. This leads us to a switching framework (an architecture and its protocol). Finally, we present measures proving that the architecture does not penalize the application and makes a graceful switching of QoS.

Dynamic QoS Negotiation for Multimedia Applications at Intermediate Nodes
This paper presents a scheme for dynamic Quality of Service (QoS) negotiation for multimedia applications at intermediate nodes. The major goal of dynamic negotiation (or renegotiation) is to explore dynamic behavior of multimedia connections to maximize resource utilization, and as a consequence, accommodate a greater number of connections. A minimum QoS for each connection is used as the mech...
متن کاملJQoS: Design and Implementation of a QoS-based Internet Videoconferencing System using the Java Media Framework (JMF)
The heterogeneity feature of the Internet makes it hard for a single real-time multicast stream with unique or static quality of service (QoS) support to provide good service to all receivers. Applying network-level QoS guarantees or application-level QoS adaptations are often considered effective solutions to this issue. However, the current proposed protocols or schemes have problems in scala...
متن کاملNew architecture for enforcing multimedia synchronization in videoconferencing applications
This paper presents a formally defined architecture allowing the design and the corresponding implementation of a set of modules that fulfill the quality of service requirements of PNSVS (Petri Net Synchronised Videoconference System), an application designed to run on top of an asynchronous environment. It describes the mechanisms and architecture allowing the system to enforce the temporal sy...
متن کاملA Model for Dynamic QoS Negotiation applied to an MPEG4 Application
The traffic generated by multimedia applications presents a great amount of burstiness, which can hardly be described by a static set of traffic parameters. The dynamic and efficient usage of the resources is one of the fundamental aspects of multimedia networks: the traffic specification should first reflect the real traffic demand, but optimise, at the same time, the resources requested. This...
متن کاملService Creation, Renegotiation and Adaptive Transport for Multimedia Networking
In this paper, we describe a prototype implementation of the Binding Architecture [1], an open architecture that achieves seamless binding between networking and multimedia devices for the purpose of creating distributed multimedia services. As a proof of concept, a multi-party teleconferencing service was built. The service creation framework has the following characteristics: binding of diffe...
